Design scheme for SXL Competition “House for Sharaku.”
Toshusai Sharaku is a mysterious ukiyoe artist, who has rumors of different identities, such as Katsushika Hokusai, Kitagawa Utamaro, Juppennsha Ikku, Tani Sogai. Inspired by his double life, the house has another space inside columns and slabs, which is commonly hidden.
The net-like structured columns hang the slabs, thus the height of each floor can be changed by rolling them up.
