We are pleased to announce that ZOOM Shinjuku Gyoemmae Residence has won the Good Design Award 2025
In the façade design of urban apartment buildings, we were commended for introducing order and beauty through delicate aluminium louvers and thin horizontal slabs, addressing the reality of cluttered balconies lined with utility equipment and evacuation devices.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those involved for their cooperation.
Jury Comments
The facades of apartment buildings are predominantly composed of balconies.
The reality is that balconies often become cluttered with utility equipment, emergency escape devices, and rain gutters, detracting from the urban landscape.
The attempt to resolve this issue through design is highly commendable.
The facade expression, featuring delicate vertical aluminium louvers and thin horizontal slabs, is aesthetically pleasing and conceals the uniformly grey interior of the balconies.
The consistent thickness maintained right up to the roof slab, achieved through structural ingenuity, reflects the designer’s commitment to their vision.
This is an outstanding apartment building, showcasing the combined efforts of the developer, designer, and contractor. It realises diverse dwelling plans and demonstrates meticulous cost control in response to rising construction expenses.
