Judges’ Comments
This is a workplace centred around the kitchen. Furthermore, the distinct architectural characteristics of each floor have been skilfully incorporated into the design. On the glass-fronted ground floor, which houses a large kitchen and dining area, the company’s iconic ethos is displayed to the city; on the first floor, scenes from photo shoots in the kitchen studio blend with everyday office life; and on the basement level, the layout actively utilises the natural darkness of the space. Furthermore, a kitchen is present on every floor in a different form, relating effectively to the programme of each level. With measures such as the use of one-to-one rooms as buffers to ensure privacy, and the layout of various spaces designed to facilitate a seamless transition between solo and team work, the space is highly functional as a workplace and is truly worthy of the Good Design Award.
